Wow, thanks so much! I agree the red filter really made the second shot. I used it in the first shot too, but the sky wasn't as blue; it had a more hazy look to it so the effect wasn't as pronounced.

That is what happens when you let the guide direct you. The ones I ran into wanted more cash to go to "restricted" areas.
I was there about a month ago. Too many friggin people on both upper and lower. Parking lot was overflowing. I tried to find a southern route into there without success. Never got near the canyons. Too far south. I did go downstream to the boat ramp. Water was way down.

I no longer own the Steve Simmons View Camera book, but I believe maybe there is an image in there of this crack, taken by Gordon Hutchings of some kind of pyro developer "fame."
