Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks, Preston. I was hoping to spend the night there (got there at noon), but my boys wanted to get on down the road to SoCal and hit the beaches. Hope to get back over there (without the boys) in February or so. Hope to hit Joshua Tree (if I swing far enough south to see my folks), Death Valley, Eureka Valley (depending on the health of the van) and Alabama Hills.

And here's the view from Third Burroughs (to the right in your pic), also showing the summit crater's rim rocks as in yours. It took three tries to get there; the first two started out with clear blue sky and clouds formed at noon on Second Burroughs, obliterating everything. Sinar Norma 4x5, Tri-X 320, yellow filter, Super Angulon 90. Looking down on the Winthrop Glacier.

Jerry and Eric, Nice!
Mt. Rainier is a volcano w/ 1,000 personalities.
Those lenticular clouds always remind me of dragon puffs.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks Laura and Jerry and Eric and Heroique! I'm enjoying your stuff from the Eastern Sierra Laura.

I'll be reprinting this one tonight -- adjusting the contrast a little (lower), to control a few of the highlights.
Very nice panorama Vaughn! Peaceful.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks, Ross. I have the new print of it in the wash -- I'll have to wait until it dries down to know for sure, but it is looking pretty good (lots of dry-down with carbon prints -- blasted out highlights can dry down to perfection if one hits it just right).

Vaughn, this looks so nice... Excellent composition - and I have to say that for me woodland floor is one of the most intricate subjects I have yet encountered but also one I feel very much drawn into..
Re: Large Format Landscapes
ross, Heroique and Jerry, nice Rainier shots. One of my favorite places!
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Here's something completely different. I know of one artist who did something similar in the darkroom, but photoshop does make this much easier:

"White Clouds Hugging the Lone Tree"
Storm clouds coming in.
