Haha, I did take some heavy rain for that one !
But rain wasn't the biggest issue : wind was !
I had to keep a hand holding the tripod all the time.

Another Grand Canyon North image. Grand Canyon North, east of Cape Royal on South Side. 90mm Schneider Super Angulon f/5.6@f/32. Acros 100, no filters. Posted the image from Flickr, Zenfolio, and my computer. This one looked like it got crispied after upload to Flickr/Zenfolio. Can definitely see a difference.

They were part of a workshop to photograph lightening that was occuring on the South rim (distant rim) Those things were set so sensitive they were constantly tripping their cameras with no success. If they had a camera converted to full spectrum with a 720nm or 850nm filter on, they would have got lightening which was almost exclusively behind the clouds. A UV filter of about 380nm or so, might also have picked up lightening.
