great exposure and shadow details. texture, tones .. i love intimate pictures of rock formations that look almost like still life. so well controlled and executed. i love this.

Eheheheheh.....I use an old TFT monitor...these new flat monitors have built-in sharpening, so, it doubles the sharpening...but, anyway, the negative is ok, no white line on the horizon!;)

Have you tried that a grade up in contrast? I like that composition but it just doesn't pop. My eyes search all over and try to grab on to something but it's a little too flat for my taste.

Christopher I think you are right, maybe something more like this?
My tendency with delicate images like this one, is to start out lower contrast so I don't over power the subject, and sometimes I just don't take it far enough.
I do usually get there after I've lived with a print for awhile and begin to recognize a certain deadness in it.

Clay, I think that does lead the eye better. I find my gaze immediately jumping to the bulk of the trees in the middle ground, and then being pulled to the road that leads the eye to the other elements.

MPP 4x5 Fomapan 100

I was approaching this place several times, from various points of view. Never got anything I was happy with... until recently. Shot with a beater Fujinon 125mm f/5.6 on a 4x5" Fomapan 100.
