It was a difficult scene for me. I love it and hate it at the same time.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Could somebody give me some feedback please? I'm not sure if it is my technique that's wrong or whatever but I'm seeing small areas of slightly out of focus area in my negs/trannies. I've attached an image below. I was convinced I was focussed correctly but there's some slightly unsharp areas on the centre left & right sides of the image below. Canham 135 Schneider symar-s Kodak Ektar. Image is straight scan, no sharpening. Thanks for any comments.Attachment 122071
Here's a closer crop.

I really cant see it, what was your aperature?
Re: Large Format Landscapes
never mind, I didn't see the crop at first, I think you need to stop down a bit more, anytime I have the near area sharp and the far area sharp and there is an area that is soft in the middle I stop down a bit more and it takes care of it.

f/32. Look at the closer crop. The rocks behind the area of moss on the left are soft yet sharper behind and sharper to the right.

Thanks. I've tried this and even stopped right down but it seems to still result in the same issues.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Did you use some front or rear tilt? (I would have.) Your focal plane is then "laying down" rather than vertical, so things above and below that plane will be out of focus unless you stop down sufficiently. You can see that the background cliff (in the crop) to the right is sharper near its top than farther down. The soft area to the left (again, in the crop) is both behind and in front of areas that are in focus because it is below both of them.
Some of the more experienced users should call me on this if I am wrong! :D
Re: Large Format Landscapes
For whatever reason the film is not on the focal plane. Obvious things, film not loaded correctly in holder, holder has issues. Silly question, is it on the film or only on the scan?

To me, it needs a lot of burning on bottom and top of the image. But, my monitor isn't a fair one, I can be wrong...
