Re: Large Format Landscapes
I like the tones a lot. but my eye's don't rest. There are many details I would like to sink into as the main subject of the image, but neither grass, willow, trees, reflction, or cliff draw me and hold me.

Perhaps trying to separate out the tonal ranges from foreground to midground might help a bit... If the image was in color, I'd imagine the color would let your eyes travel into the picture a bit more..

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thank you for your comments, both.
I don't really have this problem - my eye goes to the main tree on the left and to the brighter spot at the bottom on the cliff. Looking at the picture on my work computer, it looks less contrasty than my home screen and the foreground is indeed a bight to bright compared to what I have in mind (and at home).

Myxine, I also don't have the problem that Nicholas stated. I start in the foreground, make my way to the tree, and then on to the cliff in the background. The curves of the reflection of the cliff, and the curve of the tree help me to follow a line.
This is a good enough image, but I clicked through to your Flickr site and was jealous and impressed. I really like your vision, and have favorited you, though I rarely use my own Flickr. Good work, in my humble estimation!
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks a lot Krish! That's very encouraging
Re: Large Format Landscapes
hmm, it may also be that the image is just meant to be seen BIG. =)
And I like the image! but just noticing the unsettled wandering and sense of dissatisfaction as I look at it.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Hey Nicholas,
No problem :) And I agree with you: when I saw the picture scanned, I had the feeling that it needed to be seen big, and surely printed big to be appreciated.
Maybe I'll print it large someday and realize that no, in fact it's a dud :)
Re: Large Format Landscapes
A beautiful image, nothing wrong with it.... on the contrary I very much like all the detail and the many differences in tones!
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Indeed so much to enjoy there!
I hope to see it big someday myxine, even if you just want to do 16x20 or 20x24 ... my darkroom is available for your use =)

Thanks Ron, I appreciate your comment!
@Nicholas: thanks a lot for the offer. It is very tempting :)
