Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks for the comments on the castle image. Vinny is 100% right, it was a 6 stop difference between foreground and the back, and it was dark in the middle. I wanted to slightly underexpose the castle so I used 7 stops of grads. The transparency looks great and the detail on it is insane. Whenever I get a half decent 4x5 you forget about all of the mistakes you made as (apart from 8x10 I imagine) there is nothing like it!
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Nguss - That is a beauty for sure... I would love to see the transparency on a light table...
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks so much! I took a few on a digital camera, but they were pretty poor looking. I may have to get a proper scan of this one.
Having said all this, there are so many images on this thread I would have killed ot have taken that it is not even funny. There are some amazing photos on this thread, which was what largely made me take the dive into large format in the first place.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Me too... Looking at low res web images was enough.. the first time I saw a full res scan I was blown away and seeing my first negs and transparencys was amazing.. Nearly threw my digital SLR in the bin...
