Might be because casual viewers are unwilling to make the mental effort to visually climb over those cold blue rocks to enjoy the rest of the image (a polarizer might have helped reduce the blue a little). Peoples' eyes often need a way to enter into the photograph and in this case the rocks stop them.
Many of my water images have water all along the bottom of the frame -- I like to get the viewers' feet "wet" when they are looking at the print!

Hm. I didn't really notice the rocks until they were pointed out. My eyes jumped straight to the reflected glow... :)

Ahhhh...you were willing to make the leap!
Without the rocks it looks like this (but the square that results changes the image dramatically, too.)

I like this a lot. You illuminated the shady side of the Organ, which gave it a glow, and then let the shadows on the face of the Throne not go so dark, which gave it a sense of distance. This one has real depth and dimensionality.

Thanks for the comments folks, i pleased some of you are positive about it! These flowers were out in force this time last year, and I've been keeping an eye out (since i can see this spot on my drive home from work) hoping for another shoot, but so far not even a glimmer of pink on the mountainside.
