Thanks Steve,
Good catch. I accidentally got a couple degrees off level in that first one and had to correct it by cropping, but I'm planning to scan it by fluid mounting, which should give me a bit more wiggle room. Could have sworn I had lined up the reflections on the ground glass before locking down the ballhead.
And thanks roteague as well.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Personally I wouldn't crop the second one, I like the headroom above the mountains, and the foreground too.
-
Re: Large Format Landscapes
I agree - I wouldn't crop the second either - I like it as is. Both are great!

Wow look at that depth of field! Crazy how it just cuts through the trees, even at that distance. I have a Dagor 420mm that I can't wait to try on a 16x20 I am building. I am hoping to get some narrow depth of field like that for environmental portraits, etc.

hello argos,, thank you and yes putting that narrow blade of focus where you want it can sometimes be a challenge... Can't wait to see your images!

Here are a few of my most recent shots. I have been using Ektar 100 recently on a lot of shoots and Im really loving the rich reds that it produces. Overall good tonality and sharpness to the film also, definitely lives up to the hype.

Thank you Eddo.
sidmac, really like that second image. The only issue I see is the shadow creeping into the lower right corner.

I think that the one further away from the plant is more stark and stands out. It really shows something that seems to be isolated.

This one has some issues but I love the tones in the sky and the texture in the shadows (and the ewe and her lamb). 5x7 HP5, Semi standing Pyrocat P in a black fim bag with a home made light trap (still working it out), very nice Fujinar 210mm f4.5 tessar.

Amazing posts lately, If you guys don't mind I'd like to share a shot I took a couple of days ago. It's a small desert rabbit path between rocks around an ancient volcano.
Shot during sunset on Tmax100 and a 90mm lens.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
I have shot landscape with 35mm, 2 1/4, 6x9 and 4x5 and there is something about shooting with a 4x5 that is particularly satisfying. I believe it is the act of composing and focusing the in the camera ground glass that can give you that feeling of painting like an artist. I can and have had that feeling with smaller formats, but I definitely feel it more when shooting the large format. I may wait for the light, get a better sense of the shot, maybe move the camera, and definitely I shoot less. Do you have to have a 4x5 to shoot landscape? Of course not, but it sometimes feels like you do.

Yes, wonderful tones. I assume this is in Argentina? It isn't required, but would be nice if you added the location.

Frank,
That is an outstanding image. By far my favorite of everything I've seen of your work.
Because I ask what are they doing? Are they looking for someone, is the one girl consoling the other? I have to stare at it for awhile. And the limited d.o.f. is such a plus.
