Re: Large Format Landscapes
I finally got around to developing my b+w from last Friday's trip last night. I'm still over the moon at how accurate my exposures were considering I didn't use a meter.

Holy cow. You should be! Great exposure!

Re: Large Format Landscapes
WOW that's amazing! The exposure looks spot on! and here i am still trying to figure out whether to use +1.5 or +2 stops for my polarizer.

Thanks! Luckily I don't have a polariser to worry about that sort of thing, which makes estimating (guessing!) the exposure a lot easier. This is the first year I've ever shot any snow too, but I'm almost positive it's not going to be the last.
I saw your test sheets from your Aus trip yesterday too. Looks stunning! I really need to lug my kit across there at some point.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Chris, those really are some amazing shots. Beautiful country, I've got to get there sometime.

Is that done with the old finger in the wind exposure calculation? :D
Hell of a neg. Nice job. :)

Thanks! But you forgot the most important step, the contemplative scratching of the beard :p

It's just not fair. Y'all have too many beautiful and unusual and TALL things to photograph. Around here everything is flat and the nearest rocks are half a day away.
Not fair at all.
Fabulous work!

Now that's quite unique. Looks like the trees and pinnacles mirror each other.
Do the trees wanna be rocks, or the rocks trees?
Likely the former, since the rocks were there first.

After looking at your image for a bit it dawned on me that it had similarities to one of my own - just flip mine over to make the fence run the other direction. (... and at the risk of embarrassing myself by placing my image next to yours):

Dear Carey,
Finally, a parallel universe... :)
Never feel embarrassed, I like that image, since you were able to capture a later sun than I. You would be welcome by my campfire anytime.

Thanks Jim, judging by the look of the countryside you frequent, that's an offer that I might just have to take you up on one day ... (I'll bring my own sausages) :)

Carey,
You have a lot of nice shots at your site. I'm about to go to bed, but I'll peruse it more tomorrow!

lbj : Horse Tank
I like it a lot
I have no doubt that the camera was plumb etc, but the clouds and alluvial fan in the distance made me think twice, as i was expecting the "horizon" to be , well, horizontal

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Ken, the beautiful colors in your image make me wish fall would already be here... (though I'd probably still shoot BW :) ). Some friends tell me they don't understand how I can shoot such colorful scenes in BW. Like this one here:
Chamonix 5×8″, Hugo Meyer Weitwinkel Aristostigmat 120mm, 5×8″, Adox CHS 25, Rodinal.
