Thanks Jon,
I did not use a center filter. I did use a polarizer though.
This is what the camera looks like:

Dear Nana,
Thank you too, stranger... :)
This image, for some unknown reason, happens to be presenting itself just a wee bit too darkly, so I shall revisit the image in a few days, and possibly adjust the tones to where they should be. You ask how do I do this? Sometimes the image just seems to be as easy-peasy as making bacon, because the clouds pop out of the negative effortlessly, and then there are days that the image requires a few more hours with a hammer and a chisel to extract and release the cloud information properly from the negative. This negative was surely the latter, and for the moment, I definitely knew why after reviewing my notes.
Soft floating clouds like these, move very quickly across our Alberta backyard, and these clouds tend to hug the ground while following the jet stream above, which enters the province periodically from the southwest corner. Sometimes I get lucky, being at the right place, at the right time, and other days it was just a good hike...

Very nice Preston!
These are all really nice.
Preston, i guess you were in the right place atthe right time. Nice shot.
I'm a couple weeks behind, but thanks to Kirk Keyes, jim kitchen, EdWorkman, and rdenney for your feedback on my Zion shot!
Having browsed through the thread since thing, my particular kudos to Nana Sousa Dias, Duane Polcou, SocalAstro, and dofmaster - outstanding stuff!
Preston, I love the Leidig Meadow photograph - I haven't seen much of Yosemite in the fall, and didn't know you'd get that kind of color on the valley wall. I'm trying to identify exactly where your camera was pointed (I'd love to say I could pinpoint anywhere in the valley by looking at it, but I've got a long way to go) - regardless, it's fantastic!
dofmaster, I really like that second shot.

Very cool- I want to go there
Did you consider cropping the strip of light bushes at the bottom?
That's the way I first saw it on my monitor- I liked it [too]

Dofmaster,
Nice work, especially the second photo!
Well, this hardly feels adequate after dofmasters additional posts, but what can you do...
I wanted to come away from Yosemite with some particular photographs this summer, including this one - Nevada Fall at the peak of spring flow.

Hey, nicely done. I was in Yosemite at the end of October, and due to the heavy rain for a few days, *all* the waterfalls were thundering just like Nevada in your photograph. That's the first time I've been in Yosemite in the Fall, and see the 'Falls' running. It was cool!
Thanks! I was watching the weather reports for Yosemite while I was in Seattle, just wishing I was back there. Having the waterfalls running the autumn is a rare thing, and I have yet to be there for it myself.

Taken a few years ago, I had only been at LF for about a year at this point. This is one of the images that pushed me completely off the fence re LF, shortly after I sold my DSLR that I had started out with. Painful experience in many ways, what with how quickly these things lose their value! still, no regrets this far:)
Image is of Ben Talaidh, on the Isle of Mull on the west coast of Scotland. Taken at the end of a summer day before heading to the bothy just a mile further up the river.
Thanks for the kind words Mike. A bothy is a shelter in the mountain environment, usually an old dwelling or shepherds hut, for instance.
Last pages of this thread looks really inpiring! Keep posting your best LF photos!

Dofmaster, Beautiful shots of Kazakhstan. When I was there (Baikonur City), it was all desert with two humper camels in the fields. I guess Kazakhstan is a big country and has lots of different scenery.
Here is a shot from Northern Arizona. I was attracted by the clouds and cloud shadows.
Please comment and critique.
