Terrific image, Harley. I won't believe that this was not shot on film.

Higgar Tor in peak district in England.
taken in a workshop with Nigel Halliwell. I have exposed efke 25 thinking it was ilford delta 100. i had to push process to correct that. I am happy with the result of my first push processing ever. comments and critiques are welcome.

Thank you all. I have only used 6x17 for a few months and was really into it, but I always forget how to compose a panorama and then all of a sudden catch the bug again. I shoot mostly 4x5 now, but in a few months I might shoot only panorama's again.
I had a look at your website the other day, Folker. Beautiful work. I really enjoyed it, very inspirational. And it gave my parents a good tip, I showed them your shot of the waterfall at Glen Orchy, they will be near there in the summer. So, thanks!
This is Ober Water in the New Forest. Nothing really special about the place. Gnarly tree roots though!

Simply beautiful Greenspeed.
Ever been drawn to a scene and you're not really sure why? That was how I felt about this photo.

I don't think they'll let me move the bridge :D
There's a lot of nice photos to be had along this little stretch of river. Still got a few i'm working on.
Would also love to see some of your pictures printed and framed and hanging on my wall. Lived in Australia, on the Gold Coast, for a while. Spent a lot of time photographing around QLD and NSW. Such beauty i seem hard to find here in England. Unfortunately it was before i got into large format. A reason to go back i think!

I like the composition and the way you've seen the subject matter but not the way it's been printed. For my tastes it needs more contrast especially in the highlights. When I look at your excellent "b&w - outdoor" prints on your web site I don't see anything else printed like this. So why this one? Not that everything should be printed the same way if a different way works, this particular way just doesn't work well for me. Perhaps your idea was to make a moody print but to me it doesn't achieve that, it just looks like a flat print. But I recognize that I'm viewing it on my monitor, I'm not actually seeing the print. Perhaps the actual print looks a lot different. Or perhaps we just have different ideas about how this print should look. And since it's your print, not mine, I'll shut up.
Hi Brian,
I appreciate the comments and agree completely. This neg was unknowingly underexposed and not compensated for when developing. The resultant neg is really flat. This took a lot of curves in Photoshop to get this much out of the scan. This one won't make it onto my website for the reasons you've stated. I can pull the highlights out more, but it starts to get pretty ugly. I liked the subject matter enough to post it here, though. I managed to forget to pull the dark slide on the second, more "perfect" composition, so this was all I got. I was and am bummed!

Those are splendid Dadan.
I agree! Those light spring greens come and go in a very short time, and the forests blend into one tone after that. Well done!
Thanks!
Yes, there are only few days to do it:)
Great capture Dadan
Shot my first TMY negative, and developed it in Pyrocat HD. I see why this is a standard combo! I'd rather shoot TMX though, but if I need the speed, I know what I'll be using. Took this at St. Marks NWR.

Based on a comment on my Hwy 17 West Texas image posted earlier, I decided to rescan the neg and work a little harder to try and pull more life out of the image. There were actually two issues with this shot, the underexposure/underdevelopment was one and the second was that I should have used TMY-2 here, not Arista which has a terribly narrow latitude. Arista seems to work much better for me in the studio than in the field, unless the lighting is really flat.
Anyway, changing some of the scan settings on my 4990 and working with narrower and more numerous tone curves allowed me to get a little more from the negative. This still won't make it to my website, but it does look a little better than the first post.
By the way, nice couple of images, Dadan!

Whoa!!! Really nice!
Lovely shot, Nathan. I'm gonna disagree with Harley though because the blue/yellow complementary thing is (IMHO) important to this photo, and a B&W conversion would make the foreground distracting.
Well thanks folks. I tend to be a color freak, but actually I may have a Tmax 100 version of the same scene somewhere in the archives off site. I'm not so sure about a conversion from the Astia; not really very proficient at that technique.

How long did you have to wait on those clouds to line up just right?
Was that taken on the entrance road to the park?
barnninny, completely an opportunistic shot. No wait but just a quick car stop and setup for a couple of chromes and B&W as I recall. Just a day trip out of Alamosa my trip records show.

Lone Pine Peak
I camped in the Alabama Hills in January. I only shot two sheets of B&W that trip and the film has been patiently waiting in the holder for enough film to make up a Jobo drum batch. I ran it when I processed my Yosemite film a few weeks ago. This image was made a short distance from my campsite one beautiful Sunday morning.

Beautiful, Harley. I love the repeating shapes, from the small rock in the foreground all the way up to the clouds. When I lived in L.A. I used to drive to Lone Pine all the time. My wife and I would eat at Bobo's Bonanza for dinner which served the largest chicken fried steak I've ever seen.

Yeah, that's really nice, Harley. Good work.
Jonathan, H2OMan and Abdullah, thanks for the comments and suggestions. Much appreciated!
