If using Windows (no idea what a Mac does), try right clicking and pick "View Image" from the context menu.

And then Phillip, yes you are right. I tend to make them too big. But its mentally hard to reduce them in size too much. It goes against all the reasons we use large format , but then publishing on the web do... I know I know...
It's usually the portrait oriented that is the problem since the image is scaled to the width of the page.
