Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thinking a bit about Sally Mann's photographs from the "A Thousand Crossings" show that was here in Atlanta recently - specifically some of the very dark and mysterious images from her "Southern Landscapes" portfolio.

I missed this exhibit (been away from Atlanta for quite a while down on the coast), but I like her landscape work. I have her Deep South book on my coffee table. Your photo does have that Sally Mann vibe. Good work
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks! I was lucky to see it. The first time I went, the show had been shut down unexpectedly that morning, but I got a chance to go a few weeks later. Then the show was completely closed earlier than expected. I think they were having roof leaks or something.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
John,
Hope you don't mind a constructive comment and, perhaps, you know this already... Use of front tilt in scenes like this is problematic because the upper area of verticals (trees in this case) are generally rendered soft no matter what lens aperture is used. For scenes like this, I keep everything at zero and use aperture, choice of lens, and/or camera position to maximize DOF. If I can't get everything in sharp focus, I'll ensure my primary subject is sharp and let everything else fall where it may. Of course, this is just me and you're certainly free to shoot as you see fit. ;)
