I had intended to take my "new" old Rapid Rectilinear but forgot to put it in the case I shot several on from the other side a couple of days earlier with the Petzval and also with a Meniscus, will be interesting to see the difference. This was the first cell service area I had in about an hour on my drive back from El Paso and had to pull over for a conference call, at least I had something to do while waiting for the meeting to start!
Best use of time ever.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
I am still so new to developing and scanning at home. Here is another image of the same mountain, shot a few days earlier under clear, midday sun, from a much closer vantage point. When I threw the tripod and camera back in the car I realized I had focused the Petzval wide open ~4.5 but forgot to close down the taking aperture f16 or 22 as I recall the meter indicated. I was running late and just drove away.
When I pulled the negatives off the reels this one was pitch black, I used a bright light to just make out an image and decided to throw it on the scanner instead of in the trash. The historgram looked absolutely perfect, in fact I tweaked up the mid tones a little. I remain very impressed with the V750.

Thats cracking! Always amazing how much abuse a negative can take.

Dog River, Vermont. 4x5 Chamonix on Ektar film. First shot with a 210 f5.6 Fujinon and the second with a 120 f8 Fujinon.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Love the texture on the rocks in the first one. The second reminds me of the Mulberry River in Arkansas.

Thank you Andrej. I do love living near the edge of a continent, although sometimes I fantasize about having a little house somewhere deep in the desert. I guess we're destined to forever be restless, eh? :) Anyway, from your pictures, it's clear that there is no shortage of beauty to be found where you are. Thanks again.
