A few minutes later the sun came out - but the lighting was harsh and I'm not sure if I could've gotten a good image (though a sunburst through the trees would be nice, maybe next time).

I like this a lot. The rocks, and the changes in direction of the water.

Here's an image from up there.

Yes I am liking this one a lot too. What are all the dead trees your link to the other photo?
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks David and scheinfluger. That other photo was just a follow-up in discussing a location in the Smoky Mountains, unrelated.
I just finished making a couple of 16x20 prints of this image in the darkroom, I am very happy with the results.
Re: Large Format Landscapes
A few months ago I posted some foggy images I made up at Fort Mountain. That evening as I was returning home I found a little pull-off area that overlooks the Cohutta Wilderness. The clouds were breaking as the sun began to set and I clambered on top of an old stone wall and precariously setup my Chamonix with 240mm G-Claron lens to shoot something. It was a chaotic area and I ended up just popping two sheets of E100VS. I didn't have enough E-6 to bother until this past week, and so finally got these developed.
I ended up having a pseudo-panorama. I think I should've shot 3 sheets as there was quite a bit in the middle I missed, but I think it works as a diptych:

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Nice. Even before reading I thought that had an E100Vs look to it (which I used to shoot a lot- one of my favorites).
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Me too, I just didn't have any experience with it before it was gone. I have about 2 boxes left of the stuff in Readyload packets. I'll be sad when it's gone.

Yeah I have a few boxes left as well as some 35mm rolls and 120 rolls. I now use it very sparingly. It's my favorite for shooting in the M6 (aside from Kodachrome :(). I have not tried the new Ektachrome release (is it even out yet?)
