Hi Glad you like it.
I have always liked Tintype portraits, those interesting skin and eye tones are just beautiful. Currently I don't have the time to delve into that fascinating process so in trying to get something similar, but quicker and less wet, I used Ilford Ortho Plus. Being orthochromatic the film is not sensitive to red light and with Rupert, being a ruddy faced builder, the film has picked up the texture of his skin and freckles whilst lightening his blue eyes.
The film was rated at 50ASA and then processed 1:3 in D76 as I didn't want it to have too much contrast. I scanned, then dodged and burned (probably a little too much) in Photoshop.
