I have got into shooting portraits with a slightly wide lens since picking up an autocord TLR last year. I actually nearly cancelled this shot because of the weather, but in the end the clouds really add to the picture.

Tobias this is great. Masterful composition with background and subject. I am a fan of wider lenses for portraits.

IIRC this was done with a Toyo field 4x5/Schneider 210. Scanned neg printed in Pt/Pd.

Re: November Portrait Thread
Denny, I like this very much. The careful lighting and tonal subtleties harmonize well with your subjects engaging expression. What appears to be a slight lens tilt is instructive for me, as I move back into 4x5 portraits.

Re: November Portrait Thread
David, a fine portrait indeed. Printing complements it well.

Re: November Portrait Thread
Since I moved out of the center, it's been more difficult to get subjects coming for portraits. Two came this week!

Hi!!
Agree! Masterful. I also love wider lenses for portraits althought I'm still learning with MF cameras!
Thank you!

Re: November Portrait Thread
My very very first 4X5 photograph.
Taken with the Intrepid with a Fujinon 150mm
Kodak 100TMX
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4859/...9e9f9879_b.jpgSvenRayen-Antwerpen-4x5-1 by Smith De Westelinck
It was my tattoo artist who took place in front of the camera.
Developped with someone I met online, and scanning with my neighboor.
Lots of dust still...

Re: November Portrait Thread

To deal with dust just use any domestic HEPA air purifier in an small room, and no dust. I use a Honeywell 16000 https://sites.google.com/site/portab...a-air-purifier

Re: November Portrait Thread
Confession. I'm pretty sure I've seen a photo similar to this one, maybe here or elsewhere.
But I haven't shot in a while, and my neighbor is a bike rider, so I asked him to pose out in front of my house one day.
I wanted to get the maximum effect from the AeroEktar, so I shot at 2.5 and 1/30 with Rollei RPX25 as the sun was setting.
Rodinal 1-50 for 11 minutes. Speed Graphic.
Again, apologies for who I copied.

Thank you! ☺️ Indeed I did. At 5.6 and the subject is only about 2ft from the camera as far as I remember.
