I invite to Russia
I live in Moscow (outskirts) I can give you a private room, meals, also accompany on trips (to be guided) I wonder what would have to share experience and to know "what air breathing" foreign photographers, and perhaps in the hope to reverse the invitation. I do not take any money. You only pay for flights and travel and all that is connected with it.

Re: I invite to Russia
Well, I was thinking about something like that myself.
I don't have the money for foreign travels, or large format (or wet plate) workshops. But I do live in a relatively interesting place with great food and wine (Croatia!), have a fully equipped lab (I also do E6), some LF equipment, and a relatively spacious house (with a spare guest room).
So, if other people are willing to try "couch surfing" type of travel, going to stay with (or receive) complete strangers, I don't see why couldn't we do the same. At least, I've "known" some of you for years (hi, Bill!)... I'd be perfectly willing to host a few fellow LFF-ers for a few days, show them around and organize some photo-ops. I've got all kinds of interesting stuff around, all within 100-200 miles: mountains, old Central European - Habsburg architecture, the sea is only about 3 hours' drive away, and I can even organize a sailing tour. And, Venice is less than 400 miles from where I live, so...
I really don't see why not? Hmmm, I guess we might actually organize something...

Re: I invite to Russia
I think this is a really great idea, with both my children grown up and flown the coop I have a spare double bedroom in which the grandchildren stay occasionally but other than that it lies empty. I would have to run the idea past my wife though, not sure she would be so keen.

Unfortunately, the U.S. is problematic to me to go (though not the fact) can still get :)

Re: I invite to Russia
I would love to do a trip to Russia and/or Croatia. I'm assuming spring/summer is the best time of the year to visit.
I would return the favor in the US of course.
This might work for me in 2013. I'll have to do some research, but I’m definitely interested. I came close to taking the train from Beijing to Moscow back in 2005.

Re: I invite to Russia
Croatia usually has a mild autumn, too.
The trans-Siberian train project appeals to many.
Everyone I know who has done it (from Vladivoskok or Beijing) says it is OK for the first day and then is just Looong. But it is possible to do a section and visit places like Ulan Bator and Irkutsk and then fly on from there
