Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
The PB Swiss told has a radius that will no scratch, or dig into your 'key' slot, but if you are good with a grinder any screwdriver will do.
The real question is, how much leverage your tool will deliver, the longer the driver, the more problematic the one issue.
IMO.

Wide stubby and a grinder.
I have modified screwdrivers in the past for specific duty.

I use this. It came with my Leofoto gear, but is available on its own. https://www.amazon.com/Leofoto-Photo...70928397&psc=1

Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
thanks for all of the great ideas- i will definitely look into them! The reason for a real screwdriver is that my linhof karden is a bit heavy and i find that the plate does seem to loosen from time to time, just at the worst possible time, which is frustrating. I have injured my fingers in the past when using a quarter, trying to tighten the plate down enough so that it doesnt loosen. Anyway, i will come up with something. thanks again.
Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
You could make your own tool out of a quarter and a piece of wood.

I know what you mean about North American coins being too thin. I have found some coins from other countries to be useful, particularly octagonal coins like the British 50 Pence.

Go big... Use a half dollar coin...
More expensive, though... ;-)

Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
If you Google 'keychain screwdriver' all kinds of things come up...some good, some not so good.
Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
Google dzus screwdriver, common as can be if you know what to look for.
Re: snubby screwdriver made for tripod plate screws?
There are other solutions. A D-ring screw https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Longer-S...8AAOSwZ1lWff2T eliminates the need for a screwdriver.
Also you could get an Allen head screw and keep an Allen head wrench in your kit.
