from the serial number on the cam the other lens was deinitely a schneider lens... I think symmar or xenar should be the two common lenses these days...

It is immaterial what it was. The cam is only accurate for the camera whose serial number is on the bottom of the cam and the lens whose serial number is on the top of the cam.
Re: Linhof Serial Numbers
I know but I could try a gamble with a similar Xenar. I would assume that the schneider lenses are quite low in the tolerances, so I would assume the correct camming is more dependent of the right cam for the camera serial...
Anyway, if I would get a cheap shot on a 150 Xenar from around 1950, I wolud try...
Besides, Is 1949 for the camera correct?
Re: Linhof Serial Numbers
Hey Bob,
I've got two cameras I'd be interested in finding the age of,
Ones a technika IV s/n 71934
and the other is a standard press s/n 41957
The press I'm quite interested in as the back has "Germany" instead of "West-Germany" engraved. It also came with a right hand grip that's got some scratches on it, and it appears to be made of wood.
Finally, do you know what lens board the Linhof Select Zeiss Planar 135/3.5 with a 58mm filter thread needs for it to be kept inside the camera? I've estimated it's something around a 8-9mm recess?
Thanks in advance!
