Re: Manufactured Landscapes
Never saw the movie, but I've been on track with his work for a while. While some aren't technically perfect, they do get the message across. I find his work unprententious and evocative. It really evokes some feeling get's you thinking...somehow he's able to find/capture beauty in an otherwise ugly horrific truth.
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
i'm on the fence about his work; maybe i should check out the film. where did you see it?
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
Adonis, I have never seen the originals!
Paul it just came to the local art flick theater, which I realized last night that I first went to in the summer of 1968!
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
By the way, I have never used a Linhof. In the film he oftentimes mounts it upside down. Is this to do falls with the lens and avoid the bed?
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
I am going to the Guild tomorrow night to see it.
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
I bought the DVD, Manufactured Landscapes a few months ago, I really liked the film, I also had a chance to see Edward's work at a gallery in Vernon, B.C. last year, I enjoyed seeing his work.
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
David---exactly, the only theater in NM with real buttered popcorn.
Re: Manufactured Landscapes
I've enjoyed Ed's work for a long time as well. We have a lot of similar locations near the Toledo area that I should go to if I would ever get the time (get off my ass) .
