Was it make-up or a cunning use of lighting and film ?

She was pretty pale to begin with...and with good makeup (she's a MUA turned model). I had her in a black peacoat, flagged off the light off the background and threw my black coat over the table. Everything was black to help her pale skin stand out more. The socked beauty dish was just out of frame...it adds a really nice glow to the skin, too. No fill was used. Then overexposed/underdeveloped. So it wasn't an effect, it was several things combined.
Thanks, all!

Nice pictures in the last few pages everyone.
I was playing around with long exposures last month, this was a 6 minute 30 second exposure taken with a Bronica ETRSi on Fuji Acros 100;

Tom and Jason, both great images, well composed.
Tom, I like the layering with the background behind the women, and their interaction adds a nice dynamic.
Jason, I like the perspective, linearity and light in your image.
