Which used digital camera to shoot images of my prints??
I mainly do 20x24 contract prints in b&w. But only have an iphone to take images of them to submit to shows. They do not look very good - only a suggestion of the contract print. I assume scanning the photos would be pricey so I thought it was time to buy a digital camera to take images of my analog work.
My thought was that a used, "obsolete" digital camera would be all that I would need to take close up images of my prints. Any suggestions for a make and model of digital camera that would be just good enough for what I want to do?

I’m a great fan of the Canon 100D (SL1 in the US), with the 50mm/1.8 stm lens.
It’s a lot of camera for the money.

A Nikon D600, D610, D750.....with a 60mm micro would work great. The Nikon's have very good dynamic range. Lighting will be important.....

How much are you comfortable spending?

My hope was to spend under $200. Would a mirorless be appropriate. The camera I need really only needs one function - to take close ups of my prints

If it is only to post and submit to shows, almost any digital camera with a decent lens that will focus close enough will do. You might have to do some post-processing to adjust the final image. Oh, and lights and a copy stand of some sort would be great.

What Iphone do you have? What don't you like about the images?

Agree Peter
It is hard to beat a current iPhone or iPad
if you help it out and use an adjustable mount, get it parallel and stable
you can also edit a LOT with it
also provides GOOD lighting
refurb

What Peter said. For $200, if you shop carefully, you might *just* be able to find an early-model APS-C DSLR with a 50mm prime lens or an entry-level kit zoom, in decent condition. It should also be possible to find a compact/point-and-shoot digital camera with reasonable controls and build quality for $200, with a somewhat different set of image quality tradeoffs. Which brings us to Peter's question: exactly what problem are you trying to solve? Whether buying one of these older cameras makes sense, and if so which type, depends on what perceived defects you're trying to fix.
