Seeking Machinist in Seattle-area for lens mounting
Looking to mount a barrel lens with flange onto lens board. Figuring we must have the most machinists per capita given Boeing, etc. Any referrals for someone who has done such work for you? Bill at Camera Techs in Ballard suggested Grimes, and I've reached out. But looking to stay local if possible.
Thanks!!

Re: Seeking Machinist in Seattle-area for lens mounting
A few years back I had several custom metal flanges made to mount large barrel lenses onto metal Sinar boards. I simply looked in the Yellow Pages and found a local machine shop. Nothing special.
I walked in during regular hours with my lenses and boards and asked if they would be willing to do a few "one-off" jobs. The boss referred an employee to me, who wanted to do some work after hours for a little extra cash.
It all turned out perfect. Fast turnaround. No shipping. A handshake, a smile and cash on pickup.
You'll probably need to leave the gear with them, so be sure to bring some air-tight storage bags: those places can be rather dusty and gritty.

There is a machinist in W. Seattle that I've used and he was excellent each time. Have to get back to you in the middle of next week as to proper name and address.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
West Seattle is where I am. Excellent now that our bridge is gone!
