Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
KHB didn’t list the 5108 carrier on their website, but I could call and ask I suppose. De Vere does make an adapter for normal timers, but it costs $175, and I can’t justify spending that on something made from available components. Thanks for telling me about the Chinese copies, I’ll look into that
Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
You can get the adapter for £ 35 from SHD which at the present exchange rate is under $45!

I only see the one for RH Designs timers, not for standard US three prong timers, do they have that as well?
Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
It’s the same adaptor. Works with any timer.
Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
I could get it and change the connectors, but if I’m already messing around with it, why not just get the 8 pin plug from Mouser and make the adapter myself?

Go for it, let us know how it works out! Me, I bought the one from KHB!

Lightwave in London did too. Tony there made an adapter to use a RH Stopclock with my 504. That was about 20 years ago, though.
There used to be a Chinese copy of De Vere enlargers....De Light? De Lite? Something like that. If they're still around, they might sell you a carrier.
Peter, DeVere is now manufactured new in China. I would think you could get a negative carrier there. See:

You could PM the OP and maybe get some information, or I would think that KHB or SHD could provide the contact.

Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
One more quick question, the 5108 arrived today, the the foam panels inside the head are loose, could anyone look inside theirs and show me how these pieces fit inside? it looks like they were just held on with double sided tape, which probably failed while being jostled in shipping.
Thanks,

Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
I got a 5x5 reduction light box from a fellow member and the panels were loose also. I believe one of the large pieces sits on top of the sides at an angle to direct the light down, the small triangular ones on top of it to get back to horizontal and the other large piece on top of the triangular pieces to close off the top. I used white elmer's glue to attach the panels. Good Luck! L

Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions
Ok, maybe another question. FedEx finally delivered the last two boxes of enlarger bits, and there were two power supplies. Both say de Vere 115v control on the front, but one has a stabilized/unstabilized switch on the back while the other does not. The one with the extra switch also has two other connectors on the back. Are these both for the 5108?
