Copied by Disney, too - more here, including some information about the original storefront:

Re: A camera-themed HABS image
It's cool that the restaurants that took over maintained the original camera facade, but it's too bad they didn't take advantage of it in the naming.
Maybe Snappy Delight Tacos or Say Cheese Please.
Re: A camera-themed HABS image
Would you settle for “Spare Tire”? At least the camera is still there!

... and, ironically, in another trendy part of town is (was... a victim of the pandemic) a bar named “The Darkroom” because they occupy space that was once a camera store.

Re: A camera-themed HABS image
Chicago had a photo studio, on Chicago ave
it became a very dark tavern, dance club
they broke out the back wall for a patio and light
however the main room remained black matt paint
crazy activities past 5 am

I went to take a picture of this sign/building, but it had been taken down. This is a screen shot from google maps that was a few years old and the recent google image.

Windows! Out damn light!
and your bar is in the round with the same booths
as I worked nights for decades, I avoided all daylight
the trick was to get out before sunrise, not always easy
Turbo would roar
I'm melting...said a patron

This is a great HABS image by Marvin Rand he did around 36+ surveys for HABS. There are HABS images by Julius Shulman (LA City Hall) and even Balthazar Korab but their names are not always keyword searchable.
