This is the plug De Vere use, as far as I know.
Regarding the carrier, the De Vere one is essentially two metal plates with nylon springs (not even really hinges) & clips for the glass - not a complicated thing to fabricate. I've been slowly assembling a bench-top 5108, but I'm going down a slightly different route for the carrier - mainly because I don't particularly care for the De Vere carrier design.

AWESOME!!! looks like Mouser has those here in the US too. Thank you so much! I'll just solder that to a traditional US three prong I guess. (why does De Vere sell a cable for $175 that can be made for so much less?)
edit: the de vere adapter also has a three prong socket that goes back in, does anyone know what the wiring is like on the inside, and which cable connects where?
What route are you going down for the carrier, if you don't mind me asking? I was also thinking a plain glass sheet on the bottom and a frame around the edge on the top could be a cheaper alternative to anti-newton glass as well.
Another thought just popped into my head, wet mounts are used for high end scanners, has anyone ever done a wet mount negative carrier?

As for the wiring, I came across this diagram in the manual for the 504. It says E is for Earth (ground), and my assumption is that N is for neutral and L is for Load, is that correct? Also, does anyone know if the switch between 4 and 6 should be normally closed, or open?

The 5108 wiring is different from the smaller De Vere's because the 1200w dichroic head uses 4x ELH bulbs, wired in parallel in the US versions, mixed series/ parallel in the UK/ EUR versions to the best of my knowledge. I think I might be able to find a 5108 stabiliser/ control box & have look inside - but it'll be the UK voltage version. I don't know what voltage the (essential) fans run on.
Fluid mount carriers did exist, but mainly for highly specialist dye transfer work involving point source enlargers and 35mm film. If you really must play with them, scroll to about a third of the way through this document for some drawings. I think a silicon oil was what was used latterly, though various substances were used.
I'm planning on using an LED array instead of the old dichroic, but with a couple of different carriers, one with pin register. Essentially a completely new head & carrier setup to allow for a little more flexibility in use & eliminate light spill completely. Coated framing glass (Schott Mirogard for example) apparently can do a pretty good job in place of AN glass.

would the wattage going to the head being different affect how the timer is connected? De Vere's timer adapter cable says it works for both the 5108 and the 504
I don't need to know what's inside the control box, just what pins are connected to what inside the cable

It'll depend on the switching capacity of the timer's relay as to what else is going on inside the enlarger control box - the pin-out of the timer socket is identical across the entire range - it's in the 504 manuals you can find on the web, specifically fig.7 on p. 3-1-1 & the notes at the top of 3-1-2.
My own preference would be the shorting plug & a metronome, but that's because I dislike timers especially if I'm doing complex dodges and burns.

So, I heard back from De Vere about getting a negative carrier, and apparently they don't have any extras, so can't sell me one. They did agree to send me the measurements/drawings so I can get one made locally, but that won't be until they get back from vacation, in 3-4 weeks.
I think I'll make an inexpensive spring carrier while I wait for that.
As for the timer wiring, I got a copy of the manual with the wiring diagram for it, but their notation is a little vague, so I'm still not exactly sure how to wire it. I've sent an email to RH Designs in hopes that since they make a cable for connecting their timers to it, they will be able to help me figure out the connections for wiring mine

Do any of you who use this enlarger have experience with and without a voltage stabilizer? I'm not sure if mine is coming with one (the listing said stabilizer, but I don't see one in any of the images, and I'm not sure if the seller actually has experience with the enlarger). Is it something I should think about getting?

Lightwave in London did too. Tony there made an adapter to use a RH Stopclock with my 504. That was about 20 years ago, though.
There used to be a Chinese copy of De Vere enlargers....De Light? De Lite? Something like that. If they're still around, they might sell you a carrier.
