Jeff Wall essay on Anthony Hernandez
Attachment 208978
Critics and art historians usually are the ones writing about individual photographers' work. Oftentimes pieces of writing that are penned by fellow practitioners, rather then academics, are infinitely more readable. Wall was described to me by a curator once as a "double threat" meaning both his writing and his pictures - each on their own - could land him a place in the history books. This essay was written as an introduction to the catalog for a show at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2009, curated by Wall and Kathleen Bartels.

Thanks for that. A really interesting read. I appreciated Wall's placing this work in the context of "street photography" both evolving from it and against it.
A few of the photos can also be seen on his gallery's website at https://www.yanceyrichardson.com/art...iew=thumbnails
