My first darkroom age 7 was a plywood box with top, hinged door in MN basement
No running water or drain, no safe light, no enlarger, not painted, little shelf, small as I was small, no room for a chair
I processed MINOX and contact prints
1958 plywood was THE big thing
Father made a Hydroplane for older brother, it sank if the 10 horse Merc was not running
DIY is not new, he also built a North Woods cabin, no electricity, wood heat
Early Tiny House with 2 seat outhouse, he drilled the well by hand and tested the water
Very cold in winter
We all planted 1000 trees for windbreak

OP here.
Yes, I solved it a long time ago by not doing any wet plate work in the winter. During the rest of the year, I work outside.
