Re: 8x10 scanning problems
It's been a while since I used my V850, but I do recall that there's a pull-down menu somewhere to specify if you're using the full bed or a smaller portion. Have you been through all the menus?

From the menu, choose Wide Transparency.

Re: 8x10 scanning problems
Thanks IanBarber, I see my whole image now! But now there's another problem. There's a strange line about 1 inch wide across the top of the preview. (Maybe it won't be there in the scan?)
And also it tops out at 300 ppi, it won't let me set it to my normal 3200ppi. Is there some setting to change this?
Re: 8x10 scanning problems
It is there in the scan. about a 1" dark line across my frame. Anyone know how to fix this?
Re: 8x10 scanning problems
Solved it. There was clear tape covering the calibration area. The scans look awesome. Still curious about the 300 ppi limit, but otherwise they are great. Thanks @IanBarber!

If you use the Epson Scan software, you can scan at a higher resolution than 300 even if using the film area guide (negative on the glass) - it is odd that Silverfast wouldn't allow that, but then I'm not a Silverfast expert.
Re: 8x10 scanning problems
I don't use an Epson V800, but I do regularly use an Epson Expression 1680 with Silverfast Ai Studio 8 to scan my 8x10 film and the software allows me to set the max optical resolution (1600 ppi) of the scanner. I would think you could do the same. Take a close look at the presets and resolution slider; I found setting those a bit tricky because it seemed a delicate dance to get each set correctly to get 1600.

Just use the slider to set the resolution you need, 2400 is probably your target
Re: 8x10 scanning problems
When I enter anything over 610 and hit enter it defaults down to 610. But when I try and scan at 610 it stops and the program freezes and it says "error from Epson" and I have to restart the program.
Interestingly enough when I set the number in the box to 300, the slider says 1600.
