Re: Film holder shoulder bag
Great idea and construction
Hippies wore Bell Bottoms
Some wear them for emergency life vests, as learned on Wikipedia
"Some modern Naval uniforms continue to use bell-bottomed trousers as a potential life-saving device. The trouser material is made of cotton fibers that swell when wet and can hold air. In the event of a sailor falling overboard or having to abandon ship without a life vest, the bell-bottomed trousers can be quickly removed in the water without having to remove footwear. As part of their survival training, sailors are taught to remove the trousers while floating, tie the leg bottoms in a knot, and then use one of several methods to inflate the trousers with air. The inflated trousers can provide extra flotation while awaiting rescue. [5]"
Re: Film holder shoulder bag
I recommend that good sailors stay out of the water and keep their bilge dry. ;^}

Re: Film holder shoulder bag
I had a pair once, but stopped wearing it as it was very hazardous to my health
either leg would hook on my motorbike and tumble me
all watercraft may sink, as I have found out
Re: Film holder shoulder bag
Funny, I wouldn’t have thought that 5x7 would fit in a jeans straight fit, just 4x5 :). Looks like a very good fabric though. What I don’t understand is that you would like to wear it as a separate shoulder bag. I have all my LF stuff in one backpack and spread that open at the site where I make the image. It’s not that I need to grab my film holders suddenly when I see a moose coming by.
Re: Film holder shoulder bag
Otto f. Don’t see any moose here where I photograph. I find my neighborhood pretty interesting with plenty to photograph within walking distance. With the pouch (my wife calls it a purse!) I can attach the camera to the tripod throw it over my shoulder and go for a walk about. Light meter on my hip, loupe around my neck, focusing cloth also on my shoulder and off I go. No need to find a spot for a case.

Ok, I can see you walking now
Re: Film holder shoulder bag
A hippy would add some floral embroidery.

David. Careful, you may get my creative juices flowing. That would be out of sight!

Re: Film holder shoulder bag
Back to pants: The second hand clothing outlets (Goodwill) could supply cargo pocket pants. The sew-it-up film holder pouch/bag would then have a secure place for other small items.
Macreme? Check out YouTube for videos on making a purse, bag or even a backpack from "550 Paravord". whatever can be done with nylon cord can also be done with jute.
