Re: Show off your Large Format camera!
Wonderful Korona glamor shots! I find Koronas to be just about the loveliest cameras in LF, with their lacquered cherry wood and nickel-plated brass. They are also wonderfully light; by far the lightest options in ULF sizes. Some complain about a lack of stability, but Gundlach made many improvements over time and I’ve never met a Korona of any vintage that couldn’t be brought to an acceptable degree of stability through basic tightening and/or adjustments.
Re: Show off your Large Format camera!
Thank you Andrew and W-C, I was actually impressed with the design and construction of this camera. It is the version 2 of the Korona View (4x5). It has all the movements the new cameras have, it is all geared. That is a big change from my Intrepid and Chamonix, which are only geared for focussing. The bellows is leather and is intact. I got it full of dust, no pinholes. When fully extended (not including the rear extension, not shown here), I found a difference of 0.5mm, that is the from standard and the rear standard are not parallel. This is a very small amount, considering that the camera is made of solid wood (as opposed to plywood, which behaves better in that sense). Knowing that, I can swing the front standard in that amount, really, very little. The finish stand very well, I just wiped and cleaned, then apply some lemon oil to add some protection. The lens board is temporary made, I did it real quick without the proper tools, and the lens is a Kodak Anastigmat 203/7.7 (not coated) also temporary. The original one is on its way, it took some time to get one, I will have to make it work. The shutter release is also coming, it is a rubber hand pump that sends air which compresses and actuates on the shutter. I will post once it is done. With the rear extension, I can use my 450mm lens without any problem. It is hard to get a camera like this in good condition.

Hey, pepeguitarra that is looking great. I see you have the newer version.
Mine is the earlier version with no front swing :(. The hardware looks so
much better and beefier on your newer copy. Tell me that you managed
to get the extra rear rail? I have it, just not photographed. It is a must
when using long lenses.

Yes, I got the rear extension, original. I already tried my 450mm lens and it works just fine. Thanks for the inspiration, if I had not seen your camera, I would have not looked for it. It is indeed a charm. I did get an original lens, you will like it too. In few days, I will have it installed it.

That is sweet--I've been looking at it and the 57N (horizontal only) since both seem handle a big negative in a relatively compact package. A question: did you buy the H1 as a complete 4x5 camera and then add a back/bellows, or were you able to buy just the 5x7 package?

Size comparison between the Mercury 4x5 ultrawide setup with 47mm XL and custom 5x7 ultrawide with 72mm XL:

Finally got some fresh 5x7 film in the mail so might go shoot some this weekend.

I got both 45 and 57, just more option within a relative light package.
