Re: Zone VI Compensating Developer Timer footswitch issue
Interesting, that's how mine works all the time. When I insert my film into the developer, I just hit the footswitch, and the timer starts again and keeps counting up. I've never thought of this as a problem.
Should I be concerned. This timer is one of the most important tools in my darkroom. (Almost as important as my enlarger.)
Re: Zone VI Compensating Developer Timer footswitch issue
When Zone VI sold the time both types of foot switches were used. It just depended on what was in stock. They both work with the timer.
Re: Zone VI Compensating Developer Timer footswitch issue
Richard, in the McMaster-Carr catalog it says only that some of the footswitches have "quick connects" but it doesn't say what kind. Do you recall if the parts Zone VI used specifically said RJ-11?

Thanks Richard, I found them on the McMaster Carr site. Can you tell me which one I need? The switch I have, which has worked fine for 25 years, is the momentary type that springs back
Re: Zone VI Compensating Developer Timer footswitch issue
Get a "wet location" footswitch if you can afford it. McMaster has a selection of these.
Re: Zone VI Compensating Developer Timer footswitch issue
When the original footswitch on my developing timer failed,Calumet replaced it. The replacement (I believe—I ‘ve got several layers of glow-in-the-dark paint covering the name plate) is the Treadlock brand. On this one, when I depress the top of the switch, it resets the the timer to zero. Then, when I depress the bottom of the switch, it restarts the timer. It’s been working fine for years and years.

No that was 20 some years ago. I do remember we soldered the wires to the foot switch.

Yes Zone VI used Treadlite foot switches.
