Need replacement for flickr to store and share photos
Hi, I'm back here after a longer time with a question:
A friend makes a lot of ecological and social documentation in the Hambach Forest area in Germany.
It's about the destruction of forest and villages caused by the brown coal open cast mining.
He's very often there and makes a lot of pictures about this, imho, very important topic.
He's absolutely no budget and until now he loaded the huge lots photos on flickr for free.
Since they want money for the service, he needs urgently another place for the pictures.
Any helpful advices very appreciated,
thanks!

He could not store them on a removable hard drive or stick drive?

Yes of course, but the storage itself is not the problem:
The problem is to make them permanently accesible in the internet (without using facebook).
And the second problem is that we need the money for maintaining the infrastructure, legal costs for all the different court cases.
Police and mining company destroyed all the material of the activists defending the forest, worth of several thousand Euros, even computers, cameras, phones etc.,
saying it's trash they found in the forest...

What's wrong with facebook? I've had no problems with it.

I have been using dropbox for free for a few years but I can't remember what their limit is for free use.
Re: Need replacement for flickr to store and share photos
isn't like $100 a year for unlimited on flickr now?
seems like that should be doable - especially since they probably have a following and a lot of people have bookmarked the pages
Re: Need replacement for flickr to store and share photos
Dropbox could be an option or building a website, although the website would cost as much as paying the annual Flicker fee. I use Pixieset (free version) to share photos, even the first paided tier isn't to expensive.

I have 85 free websites at WordPress. I've reached my limit and can't create any more it seems unless I pay. I hold the world record for photo websites I have enough material to easily make 200+ websites. I also had 50+ Tumblrs, but they got ruined once Yahoo bot them years ago. Have tens of thousand uploads to Internet Archive. 27,000 scans last year alone. Lots of options.
Flickr banned me after a week and lost all my uploads. That was 8 years ago, F...Flickr.
