Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
Hello, I would like to share with you a project that may be interesting for those doing printing processes using UV light. The idea is a device that allows you to print using sunlight and get constant results. You can make a test strip in the morning, print in the afternoon and get the desired densities even under a different lighting condition.
The reason for that is that the device "counts energy" and beeps when the preset level was reached. The time may, and in most of the times will, be different but the total amount of UV your print received will be the same.
This is a link to a video demonstration. The complete project is available in my web site. The link you will find in the video description.
Hope you like it.

I like it!
Thanks for posting
Got on your website
I will try
Is it OK to post your website directly?
Or you do it, so much good data there
Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
A few of my customers over the years have used their MetroLux in this fashion. This is the reason a MetroLux can such long exposures. A special photo diode and filter is required as our standard silicon diode 'sees' too much out of band radiation and very little UV.
Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
Metrolux II never saw one

Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
Sounds similar to the integration unit on a UV plate burner, shoul be very useful.
Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
It’s a good idea, but it has already been done. There are at least two UV light integrators out there.
Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
What are they? Where do we buy?
Do they have a signal----buzzer, lamp, BT?
Are they DIY?

Try ianleake.com and lightmeasure.com.
Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
Last year I bought his PPM-2.1 UV exposure dose meter and have just started using it, works fine
I see he has upgraded to http://www.lightmeasure.com/ppm-2-meter-external-sensor
I am going to make the DIY one with this, which seems to be the part used in many

Re: Solar UV exposure meter - for printing processes
I have the older lightmeasure devise (PPM-2). The Model 3 has some nice features (the audio signal upon reaching one's desired exposure is pretty cool.)
