Reflex view on a Wista 45d?
Hey all, I'm new here, and I have a few questions about the Wista 45d reflex view.
Since I would like to see everything "normal" and not upside-down, I'm thinking about buying this reflex binocular for the back of my Wista, but im not sure if it fits the 45d (metal) version.
- Anyone here has experience with this gear?
- Does anyone know if the Toyo reflex will fit?
- Will this make me see the world "normal"?
Thanks,
Ben
Re: Reflex view on a Wista 45d?
Everything will be right side up but reversed left to right as all of these are mirrors and not prisms. The Toyo won’t fit.
Also, this is a monocular reflex finder as you only use one eye. If it was a binocular system there would be two eyepieces so you would use both eyes.
Re: Reflex view on a Wista 45d?
That's a Monocular Ocular, I have something similar on all my view cameras in the studio. You need a much bigger unit with a front surface mirror to view right side up, but the view will still be reversed left to right. But not upside down.
I have the Sinar Norma version and frankly I prefer the monocular/bag bellows combo viewer for my uses. Easy to use, you move the ocular until the glass grain is sharp, and hopefully you can see the whole image corner to corner. I can do just that with all my setups and I'm completely good with that.
No need for focusing cloths for most uses on my cameras.

hey thanks for answering,
just to make it clear:
down will still be up, and the opposite.
the only thing that will change is left and right?

Just look into your bathroom mirror. That’s what a reflex viewer will do. Reverse left to right. It’s just a front surface mirror in a box with a weak loupe for viewing.

Depends on which Wista 45D camera you have. On older models the bottom part is wider. The finder in the photo is for the later model cameras.
