Yes the chute did open, they’re actually pretty reliable and open all most every time. :) I should add that was the my last BASE jump, figured that I should quit while I was ahead.

A newspaper clipping from Detroit's East Side Shopper dated Wednesday, July 2. 1958. I still have this newspaper clipping. Since this photo was taken in 1958, it was probably made with a 4x5 press camera.

I guess if one can't quit, it is already too late.

Impressive home lab, Bernice, and nice photographs of the setup. The scopes I used were always my employer's property. I never used a 7104 but I used a 2467B with the microchannel plate. I used to call it the "Magic Screen" (with a hat tip to PeeWee Herman) because you could see things with it that were otherwise completely invisible. It was a beautiful instrument. Eventually in my last job I used a Tek gigabit/second digital sampling scope. I have to say it was great for some things, but I don't know if I'd trust one to see the quick one-off glitches that can cause those mysterious intermittent problems.
I could be wrong about that, and I probably am. But I'm retired now, so it doesn't matter.

It was a nice day at the Rock Store, and the other roads in the area. Although this was a few years back, I recall the views from some of the canyon roads were spectacular as always.
