aww nice.
So inspiring!
Pixies in the woods down by the river in the big valley under the peaks called the Three Brothers.
The three brothers in the woods are around 13 years old at the time of the image was made. I know it is a stretch to call three all-knees-and-elbows, growing-like-reeds, fuzz-on-the-lips teenage boys pixies...and I know they would not appreciate it. But I can remember them in the Neonatal ICU at the hospital -- they weighed 2.5 pound apiece and I could not tell what weighed more the baby or the blanket. I slid my wedding ring over Calder's hand and he wore it as a bracelet. Pixies...
(8x10, 300mm, FP4+ probably, along with a yellow filter I think, and Ilford PQ Universal Developer)
(8x10. 210mm, FP4+, PQ Universal) -- Pixies in Fern Canyon
PS -- well done, Mark!
Vaughn, I'm so glad your pixies are running around in the woods strong and healthy! But the scale of Nature still makes them seem so small... :)
One more that I have shown before...
Three Boys, Three Snags
New Years Day, 2008
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park
8x10, 300mm. etc...A one minute exposure.
This one is a platinum print. I have another negative I gave twice the exposure and more development for use in making carbon prints (looks great). So the boys had to hold still for two minutes for that one.
I wish I knew what a pixie is....
I only have witches

Meagan, of course, only wishes she could be a witch.
I guess your models are sort of okay, Frank, but let's be honest...
Pixies are hot!!!
;)

I prefer yours too!
Faeries visit Moeraki Flag Station, North Canterbury, New Zealand
Haven't seen any pixies locally, just faeries -- and only dandelion faeries at that.
Their arrival:

A glimpse, before they disappear:

Oh, that naughty little Tinkerbell...

Thank you, Darr and Tomalophicon! :)

Is that a carrot in the conservatory?
If so, you've come full circle.
Emil, from this description, any of your garden fairies would qualifie :D. On the other hand, not being familiar with germanic miths, I can't quite see the difference between pixies, fairies, elfs and other such "things".
Marko
There's always carrots, and I'm always going in circles...
The good news is, the recent forum discussions have inspired me to go for an NEA grant! :) I'm trying to be more artistic:

Great work Mark! Very inspiring
I think it mostly inspires people to roll their eyes...

Mark, this is one of the most inspiring and original series I have seen in a long time! And it's not only "original" - it's wonderfully charming, too!
(with a special LOL for the "Piss Pixie"…)
Mark what is your process here. Could it be wet plate ...
I was thinking maybe, "Tinkle Tink"...
And yes, Darr, these are wet plates.
Pixies are fun sometimes, but mostly, they're nothing but trouble, always making a mess...

She knows she's cute...

She's looking right into the lens!!
These keep getting better - cool stuff.
She has questionable taste in literature...

Great images Mark.
I can't help despising the Disney company for what they've done to Tinkerbell though, I bet poor old Walt is turning in his grave.
Some of the best I've seen for a while.
Great work Mark!
Incredible work, Mark!
Darned little pixies, always saying "no"...

Oh, I don't see any potential for trouble here...

Mean little pixie! :(

I've been following your 'Pixies' and enjoying the images - very creative...
(Of course, I have no idea what your intentions are with this series)...But, I'd personally enjoy a coffee table book (of which I'd probably cut out the pages and frame them) :D
Exceptional work...
Thanks for sharing,
Dan
I think it was my daughter's favorite until I explained the magnifying glass and the ant. She's coming around to enjoying the monthly portrait threads as much as I do... and she's 8. It's interesting to hear her critiques at times. It gives a whole different perspective. :)
I can only assure you that my intentions towards Tinkerbell are entirely honorable. :)
A book would be a fun fantasy, but have you ever tried to get a pixie to sign a model release? Très capricieuse...
But thank you, gentlemen!

Seriously this is the funniest thread. Kudos.
Most excellent, seriously
Mark, these are brilliant. Congrats. We have a Pixie. She's married to my nephew, Matt. But I don't have a picture of her to post.
Thanks, all! But a word of advice...
Never give a pixie a loaded gun...

She says she wants to go to France...
