You may be able to gently disengate the arm by sliding it over the pin on the shutter.

Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...
Thanks for the suggestion.
It turns out that it was way easier than I thought it would… (I was expecting the need of partial disassembly…)
Thankfully, all it takes to open the shutter is manually rotating that little black wheel…
Attachment 252677
On the left, the shutter is closed, and on the right, it's open.
It rotates in only one direction (I think), and after opening completely, if you keep rotating, it closes back up…

Another question:
Do you know (or anyone else) if the internal fans run on 220/240V?
I want to power them directly from a wall outlet (or with an independent external transformer, if they need less than 220V)…

So, here is a translation from the German repair manual:
Attachment 252731
It says that the fan(s) run at 220V, so I should be fine.
(By the way, the live and the neutral wires are very thin, while the ground wire is regular thickness… weird…)
Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...
How did you get that translation? My manual reads "Lufter 220V"

Do you have more pictures. Your shutter motor is totally different from mine. On mine, the switches are directly on the spinning rotor.

Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...
I used image-to-text conversion, and then Google-translate from German to English.
When words (or sentences) didn't make sense, I tried to identify problems in the image-to-text converted German text.
It might not be a perfect translation, but it does give me access to a text which otherwise I would not be able to read at all…

As for more pictures, sure I can take some.
But since the space in there is so tight that I can't really move around that much, do you have anything specific you'd like to see?

Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...
I just wondered if you had any pictures of the whole unit, to see if there are any other differences from my unit.
In terms of the 220V Lufter, if the cable is disconnected from the head, the wires dead-end and it should be safe to power the fan without removing the wires.

Thank you for the information regarding the fan, I really appreciate it.
Here are some pictures of the shutter mechanism in my CLS2000 head:

If you'd like to see any of them larger, I can send you the original (cell phone) pics with email.

Did you ever manage to get a replicate made ?

Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...
yes but only on low quality plastic, as metal or nylon are costly. had not yet a chance to try if it works
edit: checked the price, the cnc aluminum has much decreased in four years, now about $150 for one single gear, $90 each if you order five (VAT 20% to be added)
