The thing about hiking in NH...is that there are relatively few switchbacks - so it is not uncommon to gain over (sometimes way over) 1000 feet in elevation per mile. So yeah...now that I'm getting close to pushing 70, some of those "lesser" peaks are starting to look pretty good!

David, yes it was an amazing day! Early sept. a few years back - high 50's f and sunny...perfect! Came up over Caps Ridge from the west, climbed Adams then down to Madison Hut (where we would spend the night) where we left our gear, and up to Madison's summit. Were blown off of those peaks a few years previous by lightning and hail - so it was good to get back in great weather!
At any rate...later on that very day, during the early evening after supper - I took this photo (Fuji/Voigtlander 667W) looking up at Madison over Star Lake:

...and yes - we also love our Limmers!
That Star Lake photo is fantastic. Thanks for posting it again!
John that's an amazing shot. Well done. Perfect.

This print has been displayed since the early ninties. It was exhilarating and exhausting but glorious evening at GSDNP. 4x5 Sinar Norma 90mm Norma barrel Super Angulon YG filter HP5 PMK+ 16x20 Ektalure developed in Ektonol Omega DII 180 black Rodagon. I dry mounted the print at the local library. I shot and processed one plate in PMK+, also shot a dupe which got souped in D76 1:1 8x10 Unicolor Unidrum on Uniroller. Poor Man's JOBO. BTW the "+" in PMK+ is a flat toothpick-sized collection of AMIDOL. Added about 1/3 stop of shadow speed, sometimes it helped.
You can resolve every grain of sand in this print when viewed up close.
