Exactly. The lecturer was talking specifically about how the nude in photography is perceived, not as it was looked upon in classical, traditional arts. Photography is closer to the mirror of our selves than any previous art form (wait until someone depicts the nude in 3D!) and, for that reason, seems to generate the discussion of "art" vs. "porn". Do modern painters and sculptors even have this discussion? I would be willing to bet that they don't. Anyway, the discussion does get to the uniqueness of photography as an art form.
I tried to make this a straight art nude image; however, the coyness of the model’s pose just imbued the image with a sensual eroticism that is hard to ignore. Thank you Eddie, Model Mayhem has been calling for you.
