Nice pic of an almost too nice Norton. I had 3 Commandos over time. I know them inside out, my prefered model was the same engine and transmission, bolted upright as Matchless G15CSR, better handling. Now I prefer my rigid mount Sporty for the same reason.
Also owned and rode 2 Norton Electras, but they proved to be bad handling bikes, yet very beautiful. One white, one black. I made my G15 all white, all stock with Dunstall headers. I have regretted selling it for 45 years.
I guess we both love bikes and photography. :)
This was a 2 year restoration from 4 boxes. The previous owner took it apart 'completely' in 1999 and abandonned the project. A lot of parts were missing and i bought new ones. I was ridden in gravel and had lots of aluminium damage. So i had to decide, do i leave it nasty looking with some shiny new parts or do I bring i back to its former glory? So i'm happy with what it looks now. I completely overhauled every engine and transmission component, carbs etc... anyway 2 winters worth of tinkering so i could ride it daily.

I know all too well what a 100 pt restoration takes. Never again! Last one I did was 25 years ago, 1967 BSA Lightning. I gladly sold it 3 years ago, to a guy who won't even wash it...
He did just buy the same tires you have on your Norton, on my recommendation. I bet I have to loan tire irons....
I am really happy with ONE 1997 Sportster, 2 into 1 quiet stock pipe, reliable, parts and repair shops everywhere and did I say reliable!
I sold a bike last week, now only the one, for the first time in my life having only one bike. I have owned, titled, restored and ridden over 200 bikes, my buyer a nice guy my age of 65 told me he has turned 600 bikes. He told me keep him in mind. He does only old English bikes. So it goes. :)
Ahh yes, reliable, LOL... You need mechanical skills for these old bikes.
