You have an original Phillips! Don't feel left out. :)

Actually there are 4 knobs 2 on each side of the grond glass plate and film holder. It looks like they can be used to lock the ground glass down or up.
This thing weighs less than half of my Zone VI. Which will be going on the auction block shortly.
Sure I remember DavidB.
David Karp, Oh yeah! I almost forgot.
ACK!
Husband just got a call from the local Police that they found a stack of empty boxes from my street. One of them had my husband's name on it. Apparently some crook waited until the UPS guy finished leaving packages and grabbed them all and emptied them.
Made my heart skip a beat until I remembered that:
1) My 45N-1 was in my name
2) the USPS didn't leave it at the door -- it's waiting for me at the post office.
Boy-- almost gave me an arrhythmia.
JT
And hey Kirk-- looks like I'm sending my oldest out in your direction for college next year, she was just accepted of the U of Chicago... she'll be bringing her Rolleicord Vb with her!
"Aha, they are for securing Polaroid holders and medium format backs"
Well that makes sense. But they do a nice job of locking it down too. I still can't get over how light it is. It doesn't seem possible. Now I just have to wait on the lens boards to come.

Mine is showing "attempted delivery"--not sure what's up with that, because someone was around to accept the package. Ah well--we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Mine arrived this morning. I've never used a Phillips design before, and I'm quite impressed.
Unlike my Ebony, the Sinar Zoom fits properly in the film holder slot.
Best,
Helen
It's like watching a big pile of kids on Christmas morning under the Christmas tree, except this gets spread out over the world, three nations as far as I can see:D
I got to see the Chamonix in China while back, it indeed is an elegant little thing; never thought the day I call a 45 a little thing:D
Happy holidays everyone, and for god sake post pictures, lots of it soon. It may convince me to pick up one of its bigger brother.
Robert
Hugo ... I think my Chamonix 8 x 20 needs a little brother!!
:D
Rick
Mine has finally cleared U.S. customs...

YAAAHHH!! I can't wait! #028 Maple and Black...thanks to Jack Flesher's posts.
It has been so long since I've shot large format...been busy with my Air Force career (23+ years...retiring next year!!) and finishing up a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. I'm really looking forward to getting back into LF photography. I've got a Nikon 90mm f/4.5, a Schneider 210 Symmar-S and a Nikon 300m(thanks Vinny!!). Now I have to see if any of the old film I have is still good? It should be good for tests/practice.

"three nations as far as I can see "
Let's count them: Australia, Canada, Japan, Indonisia, Isreal, Bulgaria, Finland, France, UK and US. :)
oops, I forgot Amund. Yes, Norway!
What, no Danes
Robert,
After this week, they will busy making whole plate, 8x10, 5x8/5x7 and a few 16x20 and possibly one or two 11x14 cameras.
We have also some requests for maple 4x5 film holders to match the cameras.
Hugo
I will have a chammy 16x20 some day ;)
with a 12x20 and 8x20 back and holders, of course!
Hmmm... sell blood.... That sounds like a good idea! Earlier I was thinking that if I sold all my worldly possessions I would only be able to realize a chamonix 8x10 and one holder! Not even a lens or anything..
How much are kidneys going for these days?
Number 43 is making it's way from Melbourne to Perth right now and expect to have my grubby little hands on this new toy in the tomorrow - yipee.
Chris.
Blood, i think i need to sell a dusin lenses or so. Hugo, any idea when the 8x10 will be ready to ship?
jan
Jan,
I think your camera will be ready in Feb or early March. I will let you know when I see Hass, the designer and owner of Chamonix factory this Friday.
Hugo
Hugo, That sounds good, perfect timing.
Thanks..
jan
Mine is still in San Francisco, being prepared for shipment - then again, the USPS website is really inaccurate, almost to the point of being useless.
yep...I am assuming the camera is coming tomorrow so I've told the misses that
I am not leaving the house tomorrow.
Mines are still stuck "despatch from sorting center" at Hangzhou; since Saturday.. I'm getting a bit worried !
Any other UK guy have a status report to compare notes ?
Mine says:

it helps to live near mayberry...."where everyone knows your name"....maybe that is another city!?!!?
it pays to have a mayberry mail man! just to be cruel cause i can...mine is on the tripod ready for some light photons to pass through it! just a bit more time to allow the sluggish dec. sun to rise out from around the other side of the world......
remember everyone....be home so you can sign for it:) :)
enjoy.
"Despatch from Sorting Center" means it's left HANGZHOU and is on its way. For me, it took about 2 days to get to the US once it left HANGZHOU.
okay! its first mount. first snow. and first shot of the two of us.
my wife looked at the camera this morning. her comment was "is that an 8x10?" i sad no, 4x5. she said the 4x5 were light and she thought i was gettingthe 8x10 cause it would save alot of weight........
HUGO! i need an 8x10!!!!!! my wife says so!
eddie
Eddie-- looks like you've been standing in the snow, waiting for the sun to come up. Tell your wife, you really want to save weight and need a 12 x 20. :)
I'm resigned to not get it before Christmas. Once it arrives in the UK it will be atleast a day in customs and then forwarding to your local ParcelForce office. Then you'll have to wait for a letter from ParcelForce to tell you how much to pay before picking it up. My only hope is that it arrives at my local parcelforce and I can go and claim it before I get their letter... :-(
Eddie,
That tripod is really for a Chamonix ULF camera.:)
Barry,
Your camera has not arrived, I beg for another poem, PLEASE!
Rick,
Seriously, you were joking about a little brother for your Chamonix 8x20, right? How could you possibly look at the tiny 4x5 negatives again?
Everybody,
I have learned and still am learning a lot from the people in this forum and this is my little payback to all the kindness and friendship I get from your guys. I am with you in that slow wait and now joy.
The current batch of 45N-1 cameras is all gone. The next batch is July 2008. Yes, we will make some holders and other accessaries for this camera later next year.
I expect all of you will receive your camera this week or early next week latest. Your camera has 60 day warrenty and life time parts replacement. PM me for any question.
I am jumping on a plane tomorrow morning for Beijing to visit my aging parents in a nortehrn coast city in China. I will be back to California in two weeks. Before I go, I want to say a big THANK YOU and wish everybody A VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY!
Hugo
Hugo, thank you for sorting this order and bringing much joy to so many people around the world. I know its nothing like solving world hunger, war or poverty, but it's definately a ray of sunshine in my little life. Many thanks and have a great trip...
Thanks Hugo and back at you.
happy holidays.
best wishes to you and your family!
eddie
ps. the tripod is for all those other heavy cameras that are now on there way to the chopping block:) .
Still in Haining. Kinda dissapointed, as im heading out on a trip starting on boxing day, and wont be back for 2 weeks.
Hope they dont send it back to China when im not there to recieve it.
On a related note, last year i got an antique scroll from China and it was sent EMS at Christmas, got it in 3 days. Not sure what the hold up is this time.
Well...my camera is floating around somewhere as well.
It at least made it to the USA.
Mine is Inbound Outbound from Customs.... whatever that is supposed to mean. Probably means it is still in San Francisco waiting to get on an airplane.
Mine has now said this for about 24 hours:

I don't believe that you guys will see anything new until it reaches the next stop along it's way. There was no change in my box's status for 24 hours and suddenly it's in Seattle. Unfortunately, I'll be at work when the mail comes so I'll probably pick it up in person tomorrow. My point here: your camera may be closer than you think :)

Thanks Hugo!
Mine made it to my door today (teXas)...! It is a beautiful piece of workmanship and I will take my first shot in minutes.
Happy Holidays and be patient it will soon arrive...
Mine just arrived at my office--of course I'm taking the day off from work today. Anyway, time for me to fly back to work--the next time I post, it'll be with my 45N-1. :)
