Orgraph, these are wonderful. There is not a tone or element out of place.
Absolutely gorgeous work Yuriy.

Yuriy, your three photos are excellent.
Ken, thank you for putting this up, your work sort always encourages me to go out and seek the beauty in the "less dramatic",everyday landscape around me. Keep up this inspiring work!

Ken -
Like it! Your evocative photos make me homesick for New England this time of year.

Midway through the exposure, the morning sun came over the ridge and illuminated the background trees, giving this scene an even better "glow" that I think really captured the crisp autumn air of late October in north GA.
Very happy with this whole exposure and composition. Will definitely be contact printing this one.
Very well done, Bryan! The image has a gentle and luminous quality that's very appealing.
Thanks Peter!
It's fun looking deep into all the details on the scan.
Very cool--between the size of the print and the aspect ratio, I imagine it will generate a lot of "loiter time" since there are specific zones, each with its own set of textures and point of interest. (FWIW, I'm betting the pebble bar and the backlit canopy will look great if you tone the print.)
Thanks CB! Yes I will try some toning when I print. Gotta touch up the negative slightly due to dust and make some prints. I am real close to running out of larger paper though so it might have to wait.
Today I got a little lost in the woods. Was following a creek but ended up accidentally heading up a different creek at a confluence. It's getting colder but I had to wade in some deep water when I got stuck trying to bushwack up that creek. Finally turned myself around and went up the right creek to find this wonderful little falls.

Climbed over the rock on the right and onto a big pile of branches that had floated down and shot into the pool, where lots of foam had accumulated, using a polarizer to increase my exposure time:
http://www.garrisaudiovisual.com/pho...eek-1623ss.jpg
Maybe in a few weeks this pool will be filled with leaves and I can get a different image. The foam was too thick for my liking.
Bewildered, Bryan...professionals (like the oft-quoted Daniel Boone) are bewildered, never lost.:)
FWIW, land nav is a bigger challenge in the relatively low/mid elevations than it is in bigger country--here in the GSMNP, the southwest part of the Park, especially the Panther Creek drainage, is notorious for packing a whole lot of terrain features into a small area.
;)
Lost was a little hyperbolic. Following a creek, it's hard to get truly lost. When I was young, I used to hop over a small creek behind my parents' house and wander in the undeveloped woods. I have a pretty strong sense of direction and remember landmarks so I never got really lost. I have a lot of fond memories of those woods, that I am reminded of when hiking out in remote areas.
Here's a photo from the confluence of Wildhog Creek and Canada Creek, after returning from the falls above. Taken with my 65mm f/8 SA:
http://www.garrisaudiovisual.com/pho...eek-1630ss.jpg
Ha, of course it's also possible to be SOL and know exactly where you are...the classic scenario here in the GSMNP is flyfishermen not making it around the "Horseshoe" of Abrams Creek before nightfall, then thinking they can climb out of the gorge.
At any rate, the last shot is my favorite of your series--UWA certainly gives you "graphic" possibilities I really haven't considered.
More great stuff, Bryan! You've really found your stride.
Thanks guys! This new trail has gotten me really excited to shoot. I have been in a rut lately and didn't feel like going to shoot much because either I had shot so much at many of the local places or other areas were so far away as to need more planning/time than I had. This trail is only about 45 minutes away and makes for a great 'impulse' shooting spot, and has lots of variety. It's been a good week for photography! :)

My wife and I hiked this somewhat arduous trail to a very remote waterfall in north GA. This is a new favorite spot and I had just shot this scene on 4x5 and medium format and wanted to give ULF a shot at this falls. The water level was higher than the last time I was here and a rock-hop over the creek downstream (see photo above on the first post of this page) turned into an actual creek-crossing in very frigid water on a very cold day. Wife was nonplussed but it was worth the trip. This waterfall is almost unknown and I hope to keep it that way...though publishing these images and showing them at my local gallery space / festivals, that might not happen!
I am curious if anyone has a comment on which they like better - the 4x5 comp above or the pano comp here.
Also snagged a shot of my setup while I waited for the light to change:
http://www.garrisaudiovisual.com/pho...adacreek1s.jpg
I like the Pano comp better. And I'd love to see those falls one day, but I won't tell anybody about them
Bryan: I usually gravitate towards the pano versions, and so I do prefer the ULF version of the falls to the 4x5. OTH, I really like the 4x5 version of the foam pool and falls, because it is a unique vision, while straight waterfall photos are relatively common, although I find yours particularly well done.
Thanks for the comments guys! The foam pool might be a good companion image. I do like to have multiple views of the same place sometimes. Last art festival I had a lady buy 3 pieces and she wanted them to be of the same place or a similar subject. I was of course happy to oblige and she went home with two shots from the same park in south GA and one similar image from FL...

Viewing it on a monitor, I like the 4 by 5 version better, and cropped to leave the upper-left 2/3rds of the image. But I would imagine the pano version, enlarged to a big print and on a wall, if it had good detail etc., would be a better choice. The viewer would have a feeling they were in the scene, rather than looking at it.
I really like the woodsy scenes you post. I used to live in the Adirondacks, and loved the thick woods and rocky streams there, and your images remind me of that region's forests.
Thanks mmerig. The 3 folks above you like the pano version, but since it's an 8x20 image it can't be "enlarged." But 8x20 inches is still pretty big as-is. Will try printing both probably.

Tried developing an 8x10 transparency I shot months ago last night, after finding the tanks and film holders I had misplaced when moving a couple years ago. Didn't work well due to some technical issues that I will resolve but I did get an image, just with wonky color (or possibly this film is toast). But the earthy tones were kind of interesting, so here's the scan:
