Here's something I took today. My original plan was a bust - went to a trail I've been wanting to hike for weeks but didn't realize to get much down it you have to ford a raging river (due to recent rains) and I was unprepared for that in improper clothes and with it being a chilly, windy day - not something I wanted to be wet in all day.
But I hung out around the edge of the "creek" and shot a few things anyway. Here are some water puddles on the banks of Holly Creek:

Thanks Corran! I wasn't sure at first about the sky, thought it looked a bit cyan and thought I may have overexposed a bit. But now I love it. Thinking back, it represents the sky pretty well. We're so used to seeing deep, saturated blue skies which may not be all that accurate.
Nice abstract, so sharp!

Hah! That's awesome! I think you can do drones as long as you register with the park. With the recent storms that have moved in, the skies should be pretty neat.

Thanks sheel, thanks Mitch. I hope things are well with you down in Boston. I was just thinking about you last week and that color head/gear you have. I still would like to get that from you someday but need another Beseler 45 chassis, among other things...but no money...

Thanks everybody for the kind comments. I have a small series now from "Berchtesgaden" in the south of Germany. This one is from a small lake called "Hintersee".

(At the southern end of "Heimat". Would love to go there some time in the future. I've only been to München yet.)

Re: Large Format Landscapes
This is Hemlock Falls near Moccasin Creek State Park in Georgia. This was a tough place to find a good composition. I am pretty pleased how this came out on the technical side - had to really wrench the camera movements around to get enough DOF in the foreground without blurring the top of the frame. Developed N-1.5 or so to compensate for the side lighting but kept some detail in the shadows. Made a couple of prints this afternoon. While I did well on the technical side I am not sure about the overall composition, what do you think?

An 81b filter would have eliminated the blue in the shadows. Speaking of 81b's, a few years back I was offered a complete 81 set of mint 4x4 Lee filters w/Lee case for $30. I bought it and recently priced the filters at B&H at $75 each!

Been a rough week or so for me. Just needed to get out and shoot, and so tried something different. I didn't have the right lens for the composition I wanted, but I can try again as this locale is close by. This was near what looked to be an old homestead or sifting operation here in north GA's gold country, deep in the woods off the beaten path.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Bryan,
That image is quite dark and foreboding -
Considering your "rough week", perhaps it reflects your mood ?
However, note the bright spot !

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Nice - I've made a few images there myself, but none as good as yours. It's definitely big sky country!
Did you go inside the left building? Somewhere scrawled on the wall it says something like "Guano Valley Holiday Inn," and my gazetteer verifies that that basin is in fact Guano Valley.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Well, I'll be...
I never thought to look in my frazzy old copy of the Gazetteer.
My Rand McNally Road atlas suggested it was Long Valley.
Thanks for the correction.

Well, I'll be...
I never thought to consult my worn-out Oregon gazetteer.
My Rand McNally road atlas (incorrectly) suggested it was Long Valley.
Thanks for the correction.

Don't know if it's incorrect or not, but I was happy to see them. I liked the 4x5, but only the backstage made me able to understand how to look at it.
