Well done sheel. Good use of the Ektar palette.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Darko.i really like those trees. Very cool

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Sheel, that first one is a beautiful, gentle, lyrical sunset. What a change from the usual dramatic ones!

Re: Large Format Landscapes
My first time posting so this is a kind of a test to see if I know what I'm doing. I shoot mostly landscapes, and this image (which I hope you will be able to see) was shot with my Shen Hao 4X5, 150mm lens, Fomapan 200 (ei. 100) developed in Pyrocat MC. Now lets see if this works... https://500px.com/photo/206439541/mo...er_id=21794281

OK, clearly I don't know what I'm doing, at least with regard to retrieving files from a third party server (500px in this case). Maybe I can upload the photo to the forum.Attachment 163478

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Looks beautiful to me, Wayne. One click on the image opens it, another click on it opens it in a new window with great quality at about 5.5" x7.5" on my screen. (Foxfire, mac)
I like the foreground grass highlights...helps to create another layer of depth.
-
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks for the kind words. I'm beginning to really like Fomapan 200. I'll try to post some more images if I can figure out how to do it.

Dry plate. Scan of a glass plate negative hand-coated with a homemade emulsion. Seneca No. 2 at f/16. 12 s exposure. 4"x5"
Marsh in Beaver Brook area of Hollis, NH.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Nice. I believe your emulsion is a little bit faster than mine.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks, Robert. I switched to HC-110 Dil A from Dektol, and this developed so fast that I think I was overexposing, and it's actually 1-2 stops faster than the ISO 0.25 that I thought it was.

Wonderful, Pali! Interesting composition and good use of light.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Top drawer, Pali. That 8x10 transparency must be a thing of beauty.
-
Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thank you Chassis and David! The transparency is indeed beautiful with many small details (spider webs, flowers, leaves etc.) that don't show well on a computer screen. There is loads of tiny life that's captured throughout this one.

I cheated a little and moved the limb. Don't tell anyone. Working on my pre-visualization.

Also shot this on b&w, might print that one in the darkroom if it turns out well.

Really nice Bryan and bbarna!

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Thanks Pali. I don't normally do this and hope no one minds, but here is the black and white version. I decided I definitely like it more and will print it sometime this week to 16x20 I think. What do you (or anyone for that matter :)) think?
This one with FP4+ and XTOL 1:3. Don't normally use XTOL but I had just mixed up some to develop a few rolls for a friend that I need to use XTOL with, and I really like this combination.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
I took my Intrepid (1st Gen) out to the North Carolina Outer Banks and made these two images that I'd like to share. Both on Kodak Ektar and both with the excellent Nikkor 90mm SW f/8.
Sunrise at Avon Pier:
https://photos.smugmug.com/Landscape...09-Edit-XL.jpg
Sunset at Canadian Hole:
https://photos.smugmug.com/Landscape...16-Edit-XL.jpg
The North Carolina Outer Banks is pretty unique in that you have the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Pamlico Sound on the other. That gives you excellent sunrise and sunset options and these two locations are no more than a 10 minute drive from each other.
Comments and critique are welcome.

Re: Large Format Landscapes
Karl, outstanding! Great composition, location and use of the Ektar rendering. I have used Ektar with warmer subjects and your images inspire me to look explore cooler subjects.

Karl, they are both amazing!

Bryan, the black and white works much better for me. I find that the waterfall in the color version is slightly distracting along with the small ripples in the water. I am sure this will make an excellent print!

I would like to add that if you shoot transparency film, and as long as exposure is good or on the under-exposed side, it is very easy to make B&W internegatives in the darkroom, in case you did not or don't want to take and in-cam version.
