An imperfect plate. I have some bad film. The dust isn't "dust" it's an emulsion problem.
The Gabbs pole line road is an improbable span of power line poles across a barren waste from nowhere to nowhere. It was necessary for the production of magnesium during the war effort of WWII. I often use this road on travel to Northern Nevada simply because it is empty. You have to endure 46 miles of dirt road to enjoy the solitude but it is the shortest route, and during crazy times, perhaps the best.
The lens is a Turner Reich 12" on full plate.
I took Jungo Rd from Winnemucca to Gerlach in 1999, at that time it was rough and sandy, 100 miles and never saw another vehicle until I approached a bicycle rider going to Trego Hot Springs. I gave him water and off he went east.

When I left I took the much longer main road back to Winnemucca and had a great steak at the best place in town, a Basque steakhouse, which I see has gone to crap.
No grand vistas where I live, but plenty of intimate landscapes.
The nice thing about intimate landscapes in other parts of the world is... I get to see other parts of the world, places I probably will not visit in my lifetime.
