Re: Does a 240 cover 8x10?
Another question is...
Are you shooting trees or people or mountains
Do you want very Sharp or Soft
Studio or mountain climber
Outside or staged with props and lights
Very few here 'like' my images
Here I staged with a subject dialogue
Using my sculptures in my living room studio with no furniture
Shot on 8X10, contact printed, 25 for mail exchange world wide
I think it tells a story
Experts scream
Shot very close with 120 mm tiny lens
I made the boat, and most of it
The smoke just hangs there and failed
The upside down woman's face is also 8X10 and that big camera was used to make
The Doomsday Clock is ticking

Re: Does a 240 cover 8x10?
I have the 240mm Schneider Symmar-S for my 8x10s and it covers well, with room to spare.
Re: Does a 240 cover 8x10?
The only one I can say for sure is the Fuji 240A...use it regularly on my 8x10.
Re: Does a 240 cover 8x10?
The Fuji W 250/6.7 (inside writing) will cover easily with lots of room to play. The extra 10mm in focal length is, in most cases, not significant. But it is a very good quality, general-use lens for 8x10. Also not large/heavy, and it is relatively fast, which is nice for low light situations. You will find a variety of useful lenses...good luck!
The information resources on this forum are very good for determining one's lens selection. If you have further questions, the members here can provide their experiences with any paricular lens in various applications...plus a lot of info you probably do not need, but usually still interesting.

Also, I would also add another vote for the Fujinon A 240 / f9. A great lens, multi-coated (I think), newish shutter, small (255g), and it has a sensible filter size of 52mm!
Otherwise, here is my take on good lenses for 8x10:

Yes, if it is a lens designed for 8x10 format.

Except for the 210, your 8x10 Set 1 lens lineup is exactly what I use most of the time. And, I totally agree regarding the Fuji 360A! Though this lens is quite hard to find and quite expensive nowadays.

Isn’t that a surprise. Truth is I rarely use 450mm or 600mm. I bought two Fujinon 360 As because I couldn’t bear being without it. I had some lenses stolen a while ago.
