Yes, PO is Purchase Order. The final part is being ordered. Great news.
As for the Intrepid, well, I already have enough field cameras that are hard to carry. I don't see anything new in that project besides price point.
As others have pointed out in the past there is nothing new about the travelwide except for the price point (see DAYI, Cambo Sinar etc....).
I am not sure how a PO now is different then a PO when the part did not work despite rigorous testing (and full production), so i am not sure what it is we are getting close to...
You haven't been following along, I assume. They made changes to the material, ordered a large quantity of it, had samples run, and went out and tested them. In this context, the PO means a purchase order for a full run of helicals, the last part needed so they can assemble the camera and begin shipping.
I haven't seen any lightweight plastic 4x5s that have a focusing helical. That Dayi must weigh a lot more and is $700. Weight matters. I carry everything I shoot as I don't own a car.
Yes, it is plastic, and less expensive. The DAYI site has no reference for weight, so how many more grams does it weigh? It has a graflock back buble levels, GG hood, etc. Bottom line is there is nothing new here, just a price difference (which is a great thing, if it ever gets made), but no news.
BTW - Best not to assume.
Sigh, I gave you the news.
No, that they're ordering the last part. The other thing is made of plywood, what a great idea, sorry, no, it's not. I've worked in a furniture shop, so I've carried around birch plywood. I'm gonna make one out of brick. It won't sway in the wind.
A brick field camera, hmmmmm.....
